The American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) is searching for an individual who would excel in communicating and interacting effectively with dentists, fellow team members, and volunteers. Your role will be focused on project management and moving deliverables to the next step with responsibilities in managing one direct report.

The Project Manager will be a valuable member of the Scientific and Clinical Affairs department and supports the development of the AAP's various scientific and clinical strategic projects. The AAP is looking for a manager to serve as a liaison to several science and clinical related committees and/or task forces.

The Project Manager's responsibilities include:

  • Executes the work of committees and task forces by developing resources, communications, reports, presentations, multi-media content, etc., through collaboration with other departments
  • Supports the design and production of scientific symposia and/or conferences including program development and topic/speaker/participant selection
  • Manages the Balint Orban Competition and Research Forum poster session and competition at the AAP Annual Meeting
  • Monitors trends which may affect periodontal practice and communicates such trends to members
  • Identifies and oversees production of clinical and scientific resources and programs to assist members in day-to-day clinical practice

Who are we looking for?

  • Bachelor's degree in public health, applied health, communications, liberal arts, or related field, required
  • 3+ years' experience preferably in health care or non-profit association
  • Experience managing committees, scientific consensus projects, and/or project management
  • Proven organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to communicate with a wide range of individuals
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience with or interest in scientific research or dental research a plus
  • Experience managing a staff a plus
